Spotted hyena

Origin: Africa      Weight: 40-90 kg      Lifespan: 20-25 years
Gestation period:

The Spotted Hyena is the largest of the hyenas and is native to sub-Saharan Africa. Hyenas have a very varied menu since in addition to hunting, they are also scavengers. They will sometimes steal or finish the meal of other predators. Their powerful jaws allow them to break the bones of their prey in order to reach the marrow they contain.

Gestation period:
2 months     Speed: 45-50 km/h

The Arctic wolf is a member of the Canidae family and a subspecies of the gray wolf. They inhabit the High Arctic tundra, where winter temperatures average -30˚C. The ground there is permanently frozen, so they’re the only species of wolf that does not dig a den. Instead, they use natural cavities and rocky outcrops.

Canada lynx live in forested areas and make their dens underneath fallen trees, tree stumps, rock ledges or thick bushes. They may be small but they are ferocious predators. Tapirs are rather unique mammals.  They have an elongated, fleshy and prehensile nose, which is able to grasp objects such as leaves and “handle” them into the mouth. Malayan tapir has a highly-developed sense of smell. They feed on land and aquatic plants. All tapir species are unfortunately endangered.
